概况

文学院包括中国语言文学系、外国语言文学系两个学系和英语语言中心，附设新国学研究中心、全球研究中心、潮汕文化研究中心、宗教文化研究中心、妇女研究中心等研究机构，研究生教育设有中国语言文学专业一级学科硕士点和外国语言文学专业一级学科硕士点。优秀本科毕业生可直接推荐免试攻读硕士研究生。

文学院近年来积极借鉴国外先进的教育经验，全面推动“具有全球公民意识和国际竞争力”的人才培养模式，以发展卓越的现代文科人才为目标，以整合思维能力、全球文化视野、中英双语能力、翻译及跨文化交流能力培养为特色和优势，以 Active Learning&理念指导下的教学改革为抓手，全力打造具有国际水准的先进本科人文教育。

College of Liberal Arts: Overview, Features, and Education System

Overview

The College of Liberal Arts comprises two departments—the Department of Chinese Language and Literature and the Department of Foreign Languages and Literature—together with the English Language Center. It also hosts a number of research institutions, including the Research Center for New Chinese Studies, Center for Global Studies, Center for Chaoshan Cultural Studies, Center for Religious Culture Studies, and Center for Women's Studies. At the graduate level, the college offers first-level discipline master's programs in Chinese Language and Literature and in Foreign Languages and Literature. Outstanding senior undergraduate students may be directly recommended for admission to master's programs without examination.

Features

In recent years, the college has actively drawn on advanced international educational experience to comprehensively advance a talent cultivation model of "global citizenship and international competitiveness." Aiming at developing outstanding modern liberal arts talents, the college takes as its distinctive strengths the cultivation of integrated thinking ability, global cultural vision, bilingual competence in Chinese and English, and translation and cross-cultural communication skills. Guided by teaching reform under the Active Learning philosophy, the college is dedicated to building advanced undergraduate humanities education of international standard.
